What most copywriters, marketers and freelancers lack.

Is BUSINESS SENSE.

You need to develop an eye for it.

It’s a sixth sense.

You see, it’s hard to predict what could work or what will become a winner.

Nobody can predict the future.

But we can all study from the past and the present.

So to make your job easier as a marketer.

To develop that eye…

You need to STUDY.

This is especially true when you enter a new market.

I always start by studying what has come before.

The promotions that printed millions.

Take the top VSLs, the top ads and the top sales letters.

And break them down.

Every top marketer I know has their own way of studying.

Personally, I like to transcribe winning VSLs.

Watch it a couple of times.

While taking notes.

After that I’ll go line by line and rewrite them for a promotion I have in mind.

What you want from this experience is three things:

  1. Understand why the promotion made money.

  2. Deeper understanding of the market.

  3. Absorb the structure.

After some time…

You’ll be surprised at the “eye“ you developed.

You’ll be able to sniff out winners.

See patterns others can’t see.

And create connections between seemingly unrelated topics.

That’s where your unique edge will come in.

So whichever market you’re in or however you like to study.

Pick something you can stick to on a consistent basis.

And make it your habit.
